On June 7th, 2001, Dave spent the day with the music students at Boyd Arthurs Middle School of Trenton, Michigan.  It was while attending this school (originally called Monguagon Middle School) that Dave wrote his first song, so it was fitting that he was recently asked by the school's music director, Mr. Peter Kopera, to speak to the 7th- and 8th-grade bands and chorus.  Dave gave the kids an Introduction to Songwriting, during which he explained the process of songwriting from inspiration to copyright, and gave a brief description of how the music industry works.  He performed several original songs throughout the presentation and fielded questions from the audience about writing, recording and being in a band.  The session was interactive and the kids responded enthusiastically to questions like: "What makes one song or one performance better than another?"  Everyone who attended received a short list of "Songwriting Resources."

You can hire Dave to work with your students on the crafts of lyric and song writing.   Dave's Songwriting Workshop is a fun and effective way to cultivate creativity and collaboration.  The program will be customized to your class size and your students' ages and skill levels.  For more information, E-mail Dave.
